This chocolate almond butter smoothie with coconut and protein powder is a great way to get your protein intake checked off, without feeling like you are forcing down a bland protein shake.

Why?

Because it actually tastes really good!

It is a wonderfully smooth smoothie, with a complementary almond, coconut and chocolate flavor.

The nuts are balanced perfectly so that no nut flavor overpowers the other, and the chocolate flavor from the protein powder gives in that treat-like taste.

This won’t feel like you’re eating something healthy… but you are!

Perfect!

Why this chocolate almond butter protein shake is amazing

It tastes like a chocolate almond butter smoothie

This does not taste like a bland old protein shake.

This tastes like a chocolate and almond butter smoothie.

It tastes like something you would get from the expensive smoothie aisle in Whole Foods, or something.

The great thing about that is you can get in all these great nutrients without it feeling like you are eating something miserable.

This almond butter protein shake actually tastes like a treat, and that’s great.

Who doesn’t like getting their healthy foods down in a way that tastes good?!

In fact, for an added bit of flair, whilst not contributing a whole lot more in the way of calories, you could even add some Chantilly whipped cream on top and really make it look like a cheeky dessert drink!

I really hope you enjoy the taste of this chocolate almond butter smoothie was much as I do!

This is a Keto chocolate almond butter smoothie

This is a very well balanced chocolate almond butter protein shake if you are on a Keto diet.

It is very low in net carbs, clocking in at 6.3g, and the percentages are almost perfectly balanced in regards to protein : fat : net carbs – 25% : 25% : 26%.

This makes it super easy to build in to a Keto diet, as no one macronutrient massively outweighs another, as can happen with some recipes.

If you were aiming for a low 25g of net carbs per day with a roughly 1400 calorie allowance per day, you could have 4 of these and be basically bang on a 100g protein target, without going majorly over your fat allowance.

Things to look out for and swaps

Not much to look out for with this one other than going overboard with either the avocado or the almond butter.

Too much avocado can drain the flavor away from the chocolate, almond butter, and coconut flavors.

Likewise, too much almond butter can give a strong nutty taste.

The other thing to keep a strict eye on is the net carb value on your coconut yogurt.

Not all coconut yogurts are created equal.

Some are yogurt with coconut flavor, some are proper coconut yogurt, and some a full of added sweeteners.

So be sure to keep an eye on it. As a general rule, added sweeteners = added carbs!

Supplements you can add to your chocolate almond butter protein shake

This almond butter chocolate coconut smoothie has quite a delicate flavor, so I would be careful adding any strong-tasting supplements to it.

If you have any flavorless supplements, you could add them to the smoothie, but be sure to compensate with a touch more water if you add a lot, as the powder will dry it up slightly.
