You can use plain yogurt, coconut yogurt, soya yogurt, etc. None of them will make this taste bad, which is great if you are trying to stick to a particular diet.

I have not yet found a yogurt that does not work with this smoothie.
However, I would not ignore the yogurt.
As mentioned above, if you just use water, you will likely find the smoothie flavor to be underwhelming, and the texture to be quite runny.
Easy healthy strawberry banana smoothie recipe – how to make a strawberry banana smoothie
Ingredients you will need
- Frozen strawberries (you can use fresh ones, but the frozen ones make it colder)
- Yogurt of your choice
- Chocolate chips
First things first, prepare your ingredients for the strawberry banana smoothie.
If you are using frozen strawberries, I recommend blending them first in to a kind of crushed ice, otherwise they may not blend as well in to your final strawberry banana chocolate smoothie.
Then add the banana.
Add the yogurt.
Blend them all together.
Then add the chocolate chips on top, or optionally stir in for a fun flavor and texture!
- Banana - 100g / 3.53oz / 1 medium banana
- Strawberries (frozen or fresh) - 80g / 2.82oz / 1/2 cup
- Low fat yogurt - 100g / 3.53oz / 2/5 cup
- Chocolate chips (I used milk chocolate in this recipe) - 10g / 0.35oz / 1/16 cup
- Ice if you use fresh strawberries (optional)
- If using frozen strawberries, blend them in to a crushed ice form.
- Add the yogurt to the blender first, otherwise the fruit may not blend easily.
- Add the remaining ingredients.
If you use fresh strawberries, you may want to add some ice to keep the final recipe cool.
